Year 4 Aqua!

Welcome to Year 4!

We hope you have had an enjoyable break and are excited for the new school year just as much as we are!

Here you will find important key dates, information about our class books and topics and most importantly what great learning and fun activities we have been involved in.

PE: PE day is Thursday morning, please ensure your child comes into school with the correct PE kit every week.

Swimming: Year 4 Aqua attend swimming lessons at Chadderton baths every Monday morning. It is expected that every child attends these lessons. Girls needs to wear swimming costumes and Lycra leggings (if needed), a swimming cap and a towel. Boys need netted swimming shorts and a towel.

Jewelry and goggles should NOT be provided.

Homework: Every Friday your child will receive their homework bag, which will contain weekly spellings that they need to learn for the following Fridays spelling test, please help your child practice these regularly. Also, they will receive weekly timetables homework, these need to be practiced ready for the timetable test the following Friday.  Furthermore, this year it is an expectation that your child reads at home regularly and as a result their reading records are completed every time they read at home. Their reading records will be checked when returned and children will receive certificates for their efforts. Homework bags should be returned every day. 

Topic: Our topic next half term is “Ancient Egypt” Our learning challenge question is.. ‘What is unique about Ancient Egypt?’ Throughout this topic we will explore what it was like for people living in the Ancient Egyptian times.

Quality text: The quality text this term is called ‘Secrets of a Sun King’ by Emma Carroll. This text was chosen in order to support and enhance children’s learning around Ancient Egypt.

Science: Our Science topic this term is The Digestive System. The learning challenge question is ‘What happens to the food we eat?’ We will be doing lots of experiments linked to our internal organs.
